Who is genetic analysis for? There are ethical reasons to think twice before sending off your DNA.
I was a quivering puddle of panic attacks after weaning off my meds. I literally could not function. I was useless as a parent, a wife, a friend, a human being.
I would rather be put into a coma than feel like that all the time. Now that I am on meds again different ones that work better for me I am not incapacitated by constant panic attacks and up all night with anxiety.
I go to my kids' activities, date nights with my husband, interact with people, and find joy in life.
Now what was your point again? For a person who is properly and correctly diagnosed and then medicated, the difference is amazing. People think that when meds are working correctly they change who you are, but that isn't the case. They ease the debilitating symptoms so you are free to be yourself, similar to how pain meds work when taken correctly; if you have surgery and you take pain meds they relieve your pain so you feel more normal and can function better.
Having never really been prescribed something that was inappropriate for me I can't comment on "how powerful" they are. I do know that a lot of people don't take their meds correctly, are misdiagnosed and therefore treated incorrectly, or take other drugs that interact with their medication, thus changing the outcome.
